Neither Here Nor There

This show is where my MFA journey comes to a close.  It is a culmination of 11 months of introspection, hard work and quite literally blood, sweat and tears (lots of tears).

The name of my show is Neither Here Nor There, and it is showing at the West Charleston Library Gallery in Las Vegas.  It features several 2 dimensional and 3 Dimensional mixed media works.  The work explores the cultural third space, my childhood memory, personal mythology, and cultural hybridity through layered physical media.  I see this show as a proving ground or a stage of a much larger continuum.

When I first began looking at the images of the space my work would inhabit, I was somewhat concerned about not having enough work to fill it.  And what I later came to remember is that in many cases less is indeed more.  The larger spacing between works allowed for the viewer to be able to better digest what they were seeing.  

The unfortunate thing about showing in a library gallery is their need for censorship, especially in regard to male and female genitalia, the photo you see on the left was taken before I have to cover up the figures groin area.  I found some netting at a local fabric store and spray painted it to approximate the tan color of the PLA mesh around the legs of the figure. 

In the end, the turnout was pretty good, I served some Rosita cookies, and Coco Rico beverages to enhance the cultural experience.  The show is up until November 15th, 2026.
